Žoržs Tikmers, the President of the Latvian Olympic Committee (LOK), awarded young leaders of the "Personality Academy" with special diplomas to recognise them for their contribution to the camp, which included the attendance of several Olympians.

The LOK organised the project towards the end of June as part of its "sports for all classes" scheme, which was staged at the Jānis Daliņš stadium in Valmiera.

Fifty young people, between the ages of 11 and 13 and from 23 Latvian schools, participated in the nine-day event.

"I have been to more than 100 camps in my life, and it is safe to say that this camp is unique in its diversity and format," the vice-president of the Olympic Committee and former Olympian Vsevolod Zeliony said.

"A team of 15 inspiring young leaders worked with the children every day, creating challenges, surprises, games according to the themes of the day: history and legends, physical and emotional well-being, skills for life, social responsibility, career and growth."

Basketball player Edgars Krūmiņš and coach Raimonds Feldmanis, who both won Olympic gold in 3x3 basketball at Tokyo 2020, were among the guests and instructors at the camp.

Raimonds Bergmanis, former Olympic weightlifter, Olympic race walker Jolanta Dukure and Tikmers were also part of the project.

Zeliony participated in the Closing Ceremony of the camp.

"This project has given not only the children, but also the team the opportunity to see themselves and the facets of their 'diamond' that need to be further polished," Anete Vanceviča, the head of the camp, said.

"What we have experienced and lived through, what we have achieved together has made each of us grow and dare."
