Dutch world champion Bart Lambriex and Floris van der Werken extended their lead in the 49er class at the Hempel World Cup Series in Almere in The Netherlands with two commanding victories.

The pair surged to the top of the podium in the final two races of the day with double victory.

However, they were forced to use his discard after a poor performance in the day's opening race which saw him finish eighth.

His compatriots Pim van Vugt and Scipio Houtman currently occupy second place with 30 net points while Frenchmen Lucas Rual and Emile Amoros also has 30 points but sits third due to having a lower score in the gold fleet races.

Italy's two-time Olympian Elena Berta and her countryman Jacopo Izzo remain in pole position with 9 points of the 470 division despite fourth and fifth place finishes today.

Chris Charlwood and Amelia Catt of Australia are in second with 15 points but have Yves Mermod and Maja Siegenthaler hot on their tail on 16 points after the Swiss pair won both races today.

Laura Harding and Annie Wilmot took control of the 49erFX division after Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Annette Duetz and world champion Odile van Aanholt of The Netherlands faltered in the last race of the day.

The Dutch pair finished 10th which sees their score shoot up to 27, with Harding and Wilmot on 23.

Duetz and Van Aanholt have also used their discard on a shambolic performance in the opener where they came 27th.

France's Louise Cervera maintained a healthy lead in the ILCA 6, picking up a third and second place finish while Vasileia Karachaliou was unable to build on her win from yesterday and is in second with 25 points.

Benoit Gomez was in scintillating form in the men's Formula Kite with three wins from three in today's action and that has solidified his first-place status.

Provided there are favourable wind conditions, the competition is set to continue in The Netherlands.
