Hosts Paraguay have won the men's Copa América de Beach Soccer for the first time, beating Brazil 3-2 in the final in Luque.

Both countries had contested the gold-medal match at the first two editions of the competition in 2016 and 2018, with Brazil winning both.

However, it was Paraguay who came out on top at the first Copa América de Beach Soccer held for four years, after the 2020 edition was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Carlos Carballo and Milcíades Medina fired the host nation into a 2-0 lead in the first period at the Los Pynandi World Cup Stadium, but Brazil hit back and levelled the scores through Igor and Lucas.

However, there was still time in the second period for Paraguay to restore their advantage, with captain Carballo on target for the second time.

A goalless third period finished with Brazil's Bernardo receiving a second yellow, and his team were unable to make it three consecutive Copa América de Beach Soccer titles.

Chile marked their first appearance in the last four of the tournament by clinching third place, beating Venezuela 3-2.

Paraguay had reached the final by beating Venezuela 6-1 in the semi-finals, while Brazil overcame Chile 4-1.

Peru claimed fifth with a 4-1 win against Argentina, with seventh going to Uruguay courtesy of a 4-2 victory over Colombia after extra time, and Ecuador seeing off Bolivia 4-3 in the match for ninth.
