The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shotgun World Cup in Peru's capital Lima came to an end today, with Italians Domenico Simeone and Simona Scocchetti securing the top spot on the podium in the skeet mixed team event.

Simeone and Scocchetti beat Austen Smith and Dustan Taylor 4-3 in a shoot-off after going toe-to-toe with the Americans at Las Palmas Shooting Range.

Bronze medals were won by French Olympians Éric Delaunay and Lucie Anastassiou and Americans Hayden Stewart and Caitlin Connor.

Stewart and Connor combined to beat Francesca Del Prete and Cristian Ciccotti of Italy 7-1 in a match for a bronze medal.

Meanwhile, Delaunay and Anastassiou secured a clear 6-0 victory to take the bronze away from Americans Dania Vizzi and Adam McBee.

Smith had secured victory in the women's team skeet tournament alongside compatriots Vizzi and Connor on the penultimate day of competition.

The American squad shot clean to overcome Italians Scocchetti, Katiscia Spada and Del Prete.

Italy managed to win men's gold as Simeone, Marco Sablone, and Ciccotti combined to beat Puerto Rico 6-4 in the men's team skeet final.

In the end-of-World Cup medal standings, the US took first place with four gold, three silver and four bronze - totalling 11 medals.

Second place went to Italy who managed to secure a total of six medals - three gold, two silver and one bronze.

Spain ended the event in third with two gold medals, a silver and a bronze.

The skeet mixed team event will be contested at the Olympic Games for the first time at Paris 2024.

Athletes will now prepare for their next appointment with the ISSF World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Italy's Lonato del Garda from April 19 to 30.
