The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) clinched gold in the team figure skating team at the Capital Indoor Stadium at Beijing 2022, with Kamila Valieva starring.

Nikita Katsalapov, aged 30, was the only previous Olympic gold medallist, winning the team event and adding an ice dancing bronze at Sochi 2014.

His ice dancing partner at Beijing 2022 was 26-year-old Victoria Sinitsina.

They are the reigning ice dancing European world champions, and were part of the Russian side which won the International Skating Union's World Team Trophy in 2021.

The pair picked up nine points in the both qualifying and the final of team event at Beijing 2022 for the ROC.

In the women's singles element, 15-year-old Valieva became the first woman to land a quadruple jump at an Olympic Games.

She was crowned junior world champion in 2020 and European champion in Tallinn a month before the Winter Olympics.

Valieva contributed 20 points to the ROC's total in the team event after topping scoring in qualifying and the final.

The 18-year-old Mark Kondratiuk earned men's singles gold at the European Championships, and collected eight points from qualifying and nine from the final in the team event in the Chinese capital.

Anastasia Mishina and Aleksandr Galliamov, aged 20 and 22, respectively, completed a Russian clean sweep at the European Championships, and they came out in top in the pairs final in the team event to amass a further 19 points.

They won gold at the World Junior Championships together in 2019, and featured for Russia in the successful World Team Trophy campaign in 2021.

The ROC finished with a total of 74 points in the team event at the Winter Olympics, nine clear of closest challengers the United States.
