Johannes Lamparter made it two wins from two in Klingenthal to seize control of the men's Nordic Combined World Cup season.

The Austrian led after the ski jumping and backed that up with a strong cross-country section to win by 8.4sec.

The winning margin was considerably bigger than yesterday, although Kristjan Ilves was again second.

It is only the third career podium finish for the Estonian.

Austria's Franz-Josef Rehrl, who had the longest jump of the day at 147.0 metres and was in second place at the interval, finished third, a further 0.3sec behind Ilves after being pipped to the line.

Vinzenz Geiger down in seventh was the best-placed German athlete at the home World Cup leg.

Lamparter now has a 100-point lead in the overall World Cup standings.

Second-placed Jarl Magnus Riiber of Norway missed this weekend's action with a back problem and Lamparter has made the most of his absence, winning three of the last four events.

With next weekend's action in Planica cancelled on COVID-19 grounds, Seefeld is due to host the next World Cup on January 28.
