The United States, South Korea and Australia lead the way in the mixed doubles at curling's Olympic Qualification Event in Dutch city Leeuwarden.

The trio are the only unbeaten teams and primed to reach the playoffs.

South Korea defeated regional rivals Japan 7-4 to move onto three wins from three, and the US overcame Finland 7-5 in the late window to join them atop Group B.

Latvia had an excellent day, defeating Estonia 9-8 via an extra end and then thrashing New Zealand 9-0.

They and Finland, who also enjoyed a win against New Zealand, lead the chasing pack.

Group A leaders Australia, comprising Dean Hewitt and Tahli Gill, defeated Germany 8-1.

Denmark defeated a Russian Olympic Committee pairing 11-5 and Hungary saw off Spain 8-4 in the group's other games.

Four sessions and 12 more matches are scheduled tomorrow.
