Balazs Katz and Balazs Velkey of Hungary enjoyed home success at the V4 Teqball Tournament in Telki after beating Lukas Flaks and Petr Bubniak of the Czech Republic in straight sets in the final.

The Hungarian duo won all five of their matches in the four-team men’s doubles event, including two victories over the Czech pair.

Flaks and Bubniak took a set off Katz and Velkey in a 12-5, 10-12, 12-4 defeat in the initial round robin stage but were unable to trouble the Hungarians in the final.

Katz and Velkey, ranked 17th and 18th in the world doubles standings, triumphed 12-8, 12-5 to take the title, while Lukas and Slovakian professional footballers Lukas and Adrian Hricov beat Polish pair Przemysław Mistrzak and Piotr Pinkiewicz to secure third spot.

The Hricov brothers suffered crushing straight sets defeats to Katz and Velkey and Flaks and Bubniak before losing Mistrzak and Pinkiewicz 8-12, 12-8, 12-9.

But the bottom club superbly to win bronze with a 12-8, 12-9 victory over their Polish rivals.
