Italy's Giulia Gasparri and Ninny Valentini added the Beach Tennis World Championships title to their European crown with a straight-sets victory over Venezuela's Patricia Diaz and Rafaella Miller of Brazil in Terracina.

Gasparri and Valentini, the second seeds, beat Diaz and Miller 6-2, 6-3 in the women's final at the Italian venue.

The triumph for the Italian duo came just six days after they were crowned European champions.

It was far from straightforward as Valentini looked to have suffered a knee injury when she landed badly after reaching for the ball.

"It was an incredible match," said Valentini.

"I was jumping and I heard a crack in my knee and I had a lot of pain.

"I was very worried about it because I thought the match was finished."

Nikita Burmakin of Russia and Italy's Tommaso Giovannini claimed the men's title after defeating Italy's Doriano Beccaccioli and Mattia Spoto in a super tie-break.

Burmakin and Giovannini recorded a 6-2, 4-6 10-7 win in a tense finale to the tournament.

Beccaccioli and Spoto threatened a fightback in the tie-breaker before the Russian and Italian duo held their nerve to close out victory.

"In my beach tennis career I had won all the tournaments, all the Championships, both for myself and my country, but I had never won this one," said Burmakin.

"It was one step that I could not make.

"So, this was, for sure, the dream.

"The only thing that I did not achieve yet."
