Russia won 15 of the 26 gold medals available in the final day of boxing action as the Games of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Countries continue.

After dominating the wrestling action prior to Saturday's (September 4) Opening Ceremony, Russia continued its excellence at the Games of the CIS Countries in boxing.

The 15 titles included winning both gold medals in the over-80-kilogram, 80kg, 75kg, 57kg and 52kg.

One of the only non-Russian victors, Anita Adisheva in the48kg, said: "We have been preparing for a month, we were at the training camp. 

"All the rivals were good, but I am especially pleased to take revenge."

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan dominated in the only day of belt wrestling, winning half of the gold medals available, including five of the eight female titles.

One of those was winner of the 75kg division Nusratbek Sultonboyev, who said: "It was difficult, Russia also had a strong fighter. 

"We prepared excellently, we are glad to win. 

"Thanks to the coach and parents for helping me throughout my career. 

"These are the first such games, everything is at a high level, thanks to the organiser for such a competition."

In one of the more impressive showings, Zurab Makatsaria of Russia claimed gold in the over-100 kg.

Makatsaria said: "Preparations have been going on since January, but they have been especially thoroughly prepared in the last two months. 

"During this time, I spent four training camps for two weeks with two workouts a day and proper nutrition. 

"For young men, this is a very important competition with broadcasts, stands, calls to the carpet, interviews. 

"They help to feel the high level. 

"Belt wrestling is well developed in the CIS countries, all have shown themselves to be strong rivals."

Competition also took place in Muay Thai and 3x3 basketball, with gold medals determined later in the week and tomorrow respectively.

On tomorrow's schedule is also the only day of belt wrestling koresh action and the start of rifle and pistol shooting and shotgun shooting.
