The United States handed a heavy defeat to their third and final group stage opponent Egypt, to start their Under-19 Women's Basketball World Cup campaign undefeated before the knockout stages begin.

Outscoring their opponents 34 points to seven in the first quarter, the Americans made it a third game in a row where they reached over 90 points, thrashing Egypt 97-36 in Debrecen.

Azzi Fudd scored 18, contributing the most to the one-sided scoreline.

Finalists in 2019 Australia finished second behind the US in Group A with a 58-42 win over Italy, as points came from across the court - all but two of the team's players scored five or more points.

Russia made it a third win from three too, following a 72-45 victory over bottom-of-the-group Chinese Taipei and aided by the 20 points scored by Anastasiia Odintcova.

In the other game in Group B, hosts Hungary thrashed Argentina to ensure second place, winning 80-29 and led by Reka Dombai, who scored the most for her team yet again.

France remain undefeated in Group C, defeating Spain by a narrow margin in a top-of-the-table battle.

Despite being down by 10 at half-time, a terrific final quarter helped the French win 65-61 as Pauline Aster scored 12 points for the victors.

Although on the end of a defeat, Spaniard Otero Txell Alarcon was the highest scorer with 15 points.

South Korea defeated Brazil 80-74 in the other Group C game, narrowly emerging as victors to finish third.

Both Suhyeon Sim and Sohee Park scored 18 points each to help their team to the six-point win.

Czech Republic topped Group D that was separated from top to bottom by just one point, with a five-point victory over Japan, 63-58.

Dominika Paurová scored 17 points as the Czechs overturned a one-point deficit heading into the last quarter.

Mali's victory over Canada was convincing, with Mali winning 88-62 with Kamite Elisabeth Dabou scoring 18 points to boost her team into second.

Mali's wins over Canada and Japan ensured they finished in second, as all three teams were tied on four points.

Japan finished third thanks to their previous victory over Canada.

No teams have been eliminated, with the groups deciding the seeding for the knockout stages.

The US faces Chinese Taipei in the round of 16, with the winner playing either Spain or Japan in the quarter-finals.

Italy or Hungary are set to face Brazil or the Czech Republic in the last eight on the same side of the bracket.

Australia play Argentina and France face Canada in the last 16, while Egypt or Russia are set to play Mali or South Korea in the quarter-finals.
