Israel's Gil Cohen and Noam Homri have retaken the lead in the mixed class at the 470 World Championship in Vilamoura in Portugal, following a tumultuous day for Britain's Amy Seabright and James Taylor.

After struggling over the past couple of days, Cohen and Homri recovered well today to win the eighth round, following it up with a ninth place finish.

The pair now sit on a net points total of 36, with Seabright and Taylor closest to them on 50.

The British pairing recorded their two worst results of the regatta so far, finishing 14th and a discarded 16th.

They are now a single point ahead of Italy's Maria Vittoria Marchesini and Bruno Festo, who themselves are a point ahead of Patricia Reino Cacho and Pablo Garcia Cranfield of Spain.

Performers of the day were Britain's Vita Heathcote and Ryan Orr who finished third and second to move back into fifth.

The other winner today was Spain's Maria Bover and Fernando Rodriguez in the ninth round, who sit 13th.

Spain's Silvia Mas Depares and Patricia Cantero Reina remain top of the women's standings despite an average day of results, finishing eighth and ninth.

They have a net total of 43, followed by the Dutch duo Afrodite Zegers and Lobke Berkhout who finished third in both of their rounds to move up to second on 51 points.

Italy's Elena Curta and Bianca Caruso won the eighth round today, helping them move into third on 62, closely followed by the French pair Camille Lecointre and Aloise Retornaz who failed to make the top 10 in either of their rounds.

Britain's defending champions Hannah Mills and Eilidh McIntyre had a slow start to the Championship, but had their best day so far with a fourth place finish followed by a victory in the ninth round and now sit in ninth.

In the men's regatta, Sweden's Anton Dahlberg and Fredrik Bergström maintained their lead with two third place finishes and now sit on 30 points, three ahead of Portugal's Diogo Costa and Pedro Costa who won the eighth round.

Spain's Jordi Xammar and Nicolas Rodriguez are now on 43 points after a solid day that included a second place finish in the final round of the day.

Falling down the order was the Russian Yachting Federation's Pavel Sozykin and Denis Gribanov, who had to discard their ninth round after finishing 19th.

Giacomo Ferrari and Giulio Calabro of Italy are in fifth, while Greek duo Vasilis Papoutsoglou and Ioannis Orfanos won the final race of the day, moving up to eighth.
