London Roar lead LA Current by 65.5 points at the halfway stage of the fifth match of the 2020 International Swimming League (ISL) in Budapest.

The two teams were battling it out for the top spot at the Duna Arena in the Hungarian capital, with the lead in the standings swinging back and forth three times during the match.

London Roar had to wait until the seventh race of the match for their first victory, but then added five more individual wins to hold off LA Current. 

Essential victories for London Roar came in the men's and women's 50 metre breaststroke. 

British Olympic champion Adam Peaty was the victor in the men's race, finishing in 26.10secs. 

Brazil's Felipe França Silva was in second for LA Current in 26.15, followed by Russian and London Roar swimmer Kirill Prigoda in 26.29. 

Jamaica's Alia Atkinson topped the podium for London Roar in the women's 50m breaststroke, triumphing in 29.66. 

American teammate Annie Lazor was third in 30.20, with another swimmer from the United States, Lindsey Kozelsky, finishing in between the two for DC Trident in 30.20. 

London Roar will enter tomorrow's racing in pole position with 283.5 points and with the choice of stroke in the women’s skins after victory in the medley relay.

LA Current, on 218.0, earned the choice in the men's skins.  

Tokyo Frog Skins are just behind on 214.5, followed by DC Trident on 163.0. 

The ISL is taking place entirely in Hungary across a five-week schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic.
