channel 4_paralympics_03-01-12January 3 - Channel 4, host broadcaster for the London 2012 Paralympic Games, are searching for an editor to help lead their coverage of the event, which will be the largest sporting competition ever showcased by the network.

Channel 4 were awarded the event in January last year in a deal worth more than £5 million ($7 million/€6 million) that saw them fight off competition from BSkyB and the BBC, who had shown every Paralympic Games since 1980.

During Games-time, Channel 4 are set to deliver more than 150 hours of coverage of the Paralympic Games, with over 130 hours on their flagship television channel.

The successful applicant will be required to provide editorial support to the project leader and sports editor during the crucial eight months leading up to the Games and during Games itself, which runs from August 29 to September 9.

Channel 4 have already had a number of successes with their build-up coverage of the Paralympic Games including That Paralympic Show, which is presented by Rick Edwards and wheelchair basketball Paralympic bronze medallist Ade Adepitan.

The Best of British documentary series, which followed Paralympic athletes in their sporting and private lives, also proved a major hit but Channel 4 was heavily criticised for its coverage of the 2011 World Athletics Championships in Daegu last year when lead presenter Ortis Deley was dropped halfway through the coverage.

Channel 4 will be hoping to avoid a repeat performance during the 2012 Paralympics, with the new editor set to play a crucial role in helping to produce successful coverage of the competition.

The job will be based at Channel 4's main headquarters at 124 Horseferry Road in central London, while the deadline for applications will be at midnight on January 16.
