Formula One teams based in Britain are set to help the nation in the manufacturing of ventilators to combat COVID-19 in a collective they are calling Project Pitlane.

Haas, McLaren, Mercedes, Racing Point, Red Bull Racing, Renault and Williams are all based in the United Kingdom and all seven teams will work on the production of the devices that help people breathe if they have the disease.

Focus lies on all the teams to pool their resources together and the capabilities of their team members to create designs as well as test and produce successful machinery to create the devices rapidly.

As of now, Project Pitlane will look at the challenges in the current coronavirus situation and will use their team of engineers from each team to create innovative technology.

Haas F1 are the only team to have their main headquarters elsewhere, with their Oxfordshire base being used secondarily behind their regular home in the United States, but they will still partake in the effort.

The project will also aim to help with designs set as part of the VentilatorChallengeUK.

There have been more than 19,500 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the United Kingdom which has resulted in the deaths of more than 1,200 people.
