The Netherlands' Dylan Groenewegen won the fourth stage of the UAE Tour in Dubai today.

The 26-year-old Team Jumbo-Visma rider came out on top in a sprint, clocking a time of 4 hours 16min 13sec on the 173 kilometres stage from Zabeel Park to Dubai City Walk.

Colombia’s Fernando Gaviria of UAE Team Emirates finished second, while Germany’s Pascal Ackermann of Bora-Hansgrohe came third.

Groenewegen’s victory was his third of the season after taking two stages at the Tour of Valencia earlier this month.

"This one is really nice, all the sprinters are here," he was reported as saying by Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Groenewegen powered past Ireland's Sam Bennett of Deceuninck–Quick-Step in the final 100 metres and held off Gaviria to claim the win.

"The team did a very good job in the last 3km," the Dutchman was reported as saying by AFP.

"They did a really strong lead-out to bring me to the last corner.

"Then I was on the wheel of Bennett and, yeah, it was a good position."

Great Britain's Adam Yates of Mitchelton-Scott remains the general classification leader after finishing in the pack with the same time.

His overall time stands at 16:46:15, with Slovenia's Tadej Pogačar of UAE Team Emirates 1:07 behind in second and Kazakhstan's Alexey Lutsenko of Astana Pro Team a further 28 seconds back in third.

Tomorrow’s stage will cover 162km from Al Ain to Jebel Hafeet.
