Senegal, Portugal and Russia all won on the final day of group action at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay to complete the quarter-final line-up.

The Senegalese defeated United Arab Emirates 3-1 at Los Pynandi Stadium in Luque which was enough to see them top Group C.

Russia advanced in the runners-up spot after beating Belarus 5-3.

In Group D, Portugal saw off Oman 3-1 to book their spot behind holders Brazil, who had already won the group.

Senegal have now reached the World Cup last eight on four occasions and saw off the UAE in a match where all four goals came in the final period.

Mamadou Sylla opened the scoring for the Africans with a long-range strike, before Ninou Diatta also lashed home from range.

Raoul Mendy's chip made it 3-0 with Ali Karim netting a scrappy equaliser for the UAE, who finished bottom of the group.

Russia had to come from behind to beat a Belarus side who led 3-1 at one stage.

Aleh Hapon's early goal for Belarus was quickly cancelled out by Boris Nikonorov, but Ihar Bryshtsel's bicycle kick and a low strike from Ivan Kanstantsinau left Russia in trouble.

In the second period the comeback began, as Fedor Zemskov's acrobatic effort and Nikonorov's header drew Russia level.

A second Nikonorov header completed his hat-trick and put Russia in front before Dimitrii Shishin added a fifth.

Portugal, the 2015 winners, made hard work of beating Oman who cancelled out Coimbra's early penalty with a Jalal Al Sinani header.

Be Martins scored a fine strike from distance to ease Portuguese nerves, however, and his brother Leo tapped in the third.

Brazil, who are searching for their 15th World Cup title in all, proved far too strong for Nigeria as they headed for the quarter-finals with a 12-2 rout.

Rodrigo scored a hat-trick in wet conditions while Lucão and Bokinha netted twice each.

Mauricinho, Rafinha, Xavier, Catarino and Filipe also netted as the Nigerians were blown away despite being in touch at only 3-2 down at one stage.

Egan-Osi Ekujumi and Azeez Abu had given the Africans hope before the Brazilian onslaught.

The last-eight matches will take place on Thursday (November 28) after a rest day tomorrow.

Brazil will meet Russia, Senegal will play Portugal, Japan will take on Uruguay and Italy will lock horns with Switzerland.
