The 2019 International Canoe Federation (ICF) Junior and Under-23 Wildwater World Championships are due to begin in Banja Luka in Bosnia and Herzegovina tomorrow, marking the first of four days of action.
The Kayak Canoe Club "Vrbas" will provide the setting for the event, due to conclude on Sunday (July 28).
Vrbas is a mountain river with several wild sections and fast rapids.
It consists of two canyons – Tijesno, on which the canoe course lies, and Podmilačje.
"I hope that you will enjoy riding on our well prepared canoe course and getting to know our traditional hospitality, which is very famous among all our visitors, be they athletes, artists or tourists," Igor Radojičić, the Mayor of Banja Luka, said.
"The 2019 ICF Junior and Under-23 Wildwater Canoeing World Championships celebrate sports and a healthy lifestyle, competitive spirit, healthy rivalry and fair play.
"At the same time, this event brings additional optimism and faith in better life and future for our citizens."
The individual sprint heats are scheduled to take place tomorrow.
