Georgia and Romania shared six of the eight gold medals on offer at the United World Wrestling (UWW) Beach Wrestling World Series event in Portugal.

Georgia won three men's titles, while Romania's women also recorded a hat-trick of triumphs in Chaves.

London 2012 Olympic bronze medallist Dato Marsagishvili topped the podium in the men's 90 kilograms division as he defeated Murat Ozkan of Turkey 3-0 in the final.

Pedro Jacinto Garcia Perez of Spain took bronze with a 3-1 win over Greece's Christos Samartsidis.

"I’m very happy to be involved in beach wrestling,” said Marsagishvili. 

"This is my first time and I was really excited to win. 

"Beach wrestling is amazing, it’s like a celebration atmosphere, which had me smiling."

Levan Kelekhsashvili and Davit Khutsishvili also earned gold for Georgia as they triumphed in the 70kg and 80kg, respectively.

Kelekhsashvili beat Azerbaijan's Panah Ilyasli on countback after the final finished 2-2, while Khutsishvili overcame Ibrahim Yusbov 3-0 in the 80kg gold medal bout.

Oyan Nazariani of Azerbaijan clinched the over 90kg honours as he beat Ioannis Kargiotakis of Greece 3-0.

Romania's Stefania Claudia Priceputu set the tone for a dominant performance from the country in the women's events when she despatched Kamila Vito Da Silva in the 50kg category.

Georgiana Narcisa Filip also beat a Brazilian opponent, ousting Camila Fama Tristao in the 60kg gold medal bout.

Adina Elena Popescu added a third title for the Romanian team when she proved too strong for Portugal's Sonia Marina Brazio in the 70kg division.

Greece's Aikaterini Eirini Pitsiava denied Romania a clean sweep, overcoming Diana Elena Vlasceanu to take the 80kg title.
