Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC) Athletes’ Commission held an event aimed at raising awareness of dual careers.

Greek athletes and sporting officials took part at the HOC’s conference hall in Athens.

The aim was to encourage athletes to consider working while pursuing their chosen sport.

It is hoped this will enable athletes to transfer smoothly into their new careers when they retire from sport.

The HOC state participants were divided into pairs, with Greece’s Olympic rings champion gymnast Eleftherios Petrounias joining Deputy Minister of Sport George Vassiliadis.

HOC President Spyros Capralos was partnered with Athletes’ Commission chair Vasiliki Millousi.

Olympic sailing medallist Pavlos Kagialis and cyclist Christos Volikakis were among the other athletes to participate.

Athletes were claimed to have analysed challenges as part of the conversations.

They reportedly exchanged views and concerns, as well as the expectations of how organisations could help them achieve dual careers.

The HOC states further events on the subject are set to follow.
