The Angolan Olympic Committee (COA) has approved its activities plan and budget for 2019.

According to All Africa, both decisions were approved at the organisation's General Assembly in capital city Luanda.

A budget of AOA175 million (£420,000/$557,000/€490,000) has been confirmed for the year.

It was also agreed to change the COA statutes to give the country's Olympic Academy greater autonomy.

Elsewhere at the General Assembly, a ceremony was held to honour the founding sporting federations of the COA and their first Executive Committee members.

This took place to mark the 40th anniversary of the COA, which was celebrated on February 17.

Angola has competed at every edition of the Summer Olympics since Moscow 1980, with the exception of Los Angeles 1984.

The country achieved independence from Portugal in 1975 and are still awaiting their first Olympic medal of any colour.

Twenty-five athletes represented Angola at Rio 2016, in athletics, women's handball, judo, rowing, sailing, shooting and swimming.
