Sweden top the standings after the first day of dressage at the International Equestrian Federation's Nations Cup Eventing leg in Boekelo in The Netherlands.

With three designated riders per country scoring points for the Nations Cup, Sweden were able to register through Therese Viklund and Malin Josefsson on Dutch soil.

Viklund was fourth best on the day on board Diabolique, with Josefsson 10th with Allan V.

Their combined efforts give Sweden a total of 54.60 points before day two of dressage tomorrow.

Britain and Germany are their nearest challengers with both on scores of 54.90 at the season-ending event.

The Netherlands are fourth on 58.80 with their home rider Tim Lips the best performer of the day.

He scored just 19.20 riding Bayro.

Julia Krajewski was second with Samourai du Thot, scoring 22.60.

Britain's Laura Collett came third on board London 52, tallying 23.10.

The second day of dressage is tomorrow before cross-country on Saturday (October 13) and jumping on Sunday (October 14).

France, who finished fifth overall today, are hoping to wrap up the overall Nations League title.

They top the standings on 490 points, just 10 in front of Britain in second, but there are 100 points available for a win.
