Turkey finished top of the medal table at the World University Wrestling Championships after athletes from the nation claimed three gold medals on the final day of the event in Brazil.

The Turkish team ended the competition with a total of seven titles and concluded the event at the Rio Vermelho Gymnasium in Goiania with a hat-trick of victories.

Fatih Cengiz triumphed in the under-77 kilograms Greco-Roman division by defeating Iwan Nylupiuk of Poland in the final, while bronze was claimed by Robert Fritsch of Belarus.

The second Turkish success came in the under-87kg category as Ali Cengiz proved too strong for Belarusian Lllia Laurynovich.

Osman Yildirim added a third gold for Turkey as he overcame Russian opponent Zurabi Gedekhauri in the final of the under-130kg division, with bronze going to Poland's Marcin Luto.

The results helped Turkey to the team crown ahead of Japan and hosts Brazil, second and third respectively.

Bulgaria's Rodoslav Vasilev ousted Kioshi Kawaguchi of Japan to take the under-60kg title, with adding another medal to the Turkish haul as he sealed bronze.

Arten Manasov was the other winner on the final day of competition in the Brazilian city, defeating Bence Belatoni of Hungary to claim the under-67kg title.

Danilo Aquino of Brazil did enough for bronze.
