Top seed David Horn of the United States has been beaten in the semi-finals of the International Racquetball Federation World Championships in San José by Mexico’s Rodrigo Montoya.

The Mexican fourth seed won 15-9, 15-8 to reach the final in the Costa Rican capital, where he will now meet Horn’s compatriot Charlie Pratt.

Pratt, the US number three seed, earned a 15-8, 15-13 win in his semi-final meeting with Colombia’s Sebastian Franco.

There were no upsets in the women’s tournament, however, as Mexico’s top-seeded defending champion Paola Longoria earned another final meeting with the Guatemalan player whom she defeated for the title in Cali IN Colombia two years ago - Ana Gabriela Martinez.

Longoria had to work hard to come through her semi-final against Argentina’s former world number two Maria Jose Vargas, eventually winning 6-15, 15-2, 15-7.

Martinez earned her final place with a 15-8, 15-3 victory over Vargas’s compatriot, Natalia Mendez.

The tournament concludes with both finals tomorrow.
