Pohnpei won both the men's and women's gold medals as the multi-discipline Micro All Around event concluded at the Micronesian Games in Yap.

The traditional event features swimming, diving, spear throwing, coconut tree climbing and coconut husking and grating.

Only two men completed the tree climbing element yesterday to effectively decide the top two finishers.

Jasper Ponapart of Pohnpei was one of those and he jointly won the swimming today to seal gold on 92 points.

He was also fourth in the diving today but he had enough points to beat Palau's Joseph Roman, the only other successful climber who won silver.

Ponapart was second behind Roman in the climbing, third in the spear throwing and second in the coconut husking.

Another Pohnpei athlete in Talley Hairens won bronze after he won the spear throwing, coconut husking and shared the swimming spoils with Ponapart.

He was also second in the diving but his tree climbing failure meant he was out of contention for the main prize.

Roiolynn Jim of Pohnpei won the women's event after she finished with 98 points.

She won the swimming today and was second in the diving, adding to two victories yesterday in the coconut husking and coconut grating.

There is no tree climbing in the women's event.

Stephnie Lorenzo of Pohnpei won silver and Palau's Julita Blibei the bronze.

Elsewhere, the men's football was decided with Pohnpei beating hosts Yap 3-2 in the final for gold.

Palau beat Chuuk 1-0 for bronze.
