Czech Republic thrashed The Netherlands 10-3 today to win the European Softball Federation (ESF) Men's European Championships in Havlíčkův Brod.

It came after a superb week of performances by the host nation.

A three-run home run by Tomáš Klein helped power the Czechs into a 6-0 lead in the first inning of the final and it was hard to see them losing from there.

They continued to stretch their lead to the extent that late runs from the Dutch were nothing more than a consolation.

The Netherlands had earlier beat Denmark 5-3 to guarantee their place in the final.

Denmark had already sealed third place over Great Britain and it meant that they, along with the two finalists, qualified for next year's World Championships.

Belgium beat Israel 11-7 elsewhere today to seal fifth place.

Croatia thrashed Germany 11-0 to clinch seventh position.
