Azza Besbes won home gold for Tunisia as the African Fencing Championships continued today.

The 27-year-old clinched an eighth continental title in the women's sabre at the El Menzah Sport Palace in Tunis.

Besbes, who won World Championship silver in Leipzig last year, defeated Egypt's Nada Hafez 15-7 in the final.

Bronze medals were shared by Algeria's Abik Boungab and another Egyptian in Lina Mohamed.

In men's action there was gold for Morocco's Houssam Elkord in the men's epee competition.

He ousted Egypt's Ahmad Elsokkary 15-11 in the final to seal the gold medal.

Another Egyptian medal was won by Ahmed Elsayed who shared bronze with Senegal's Alexandre Bouzaid.

Competition will continue in Tunis tomorrow with the final day of action.

The women's foil and men's sabre titles are set to be contested.
