Japan’s Minato Oike won the International Cycling Union BMX Freestyle Park World Cup competition for women at the Festival of Extreme Sports (FISE) World Series event in Montpellier today.

Having topped the qualification standings on Wednesday (May 9) with 82.50 points, the 21-year-old triumphed with 85.40 at the Rives du Lez venue. 

Switzerland’s Nikita Ducarroz finished second with 83.20 points, while Germany’s Lara Lessmann came third with 80.40.

In the mountain bike slopestyle event, the United States' Nicholi Rogatkin claimed victory with 85.66 points.

Nearest challenger Tomas Lemoine of France was 0.66 points behind with Italy's Diego Caverzasi a further 2.00 back in third.

The skateboard street pro final also took place today in the French city and saw home favourite Vincent Milou prevail with 82.97 points.

Japan’s Ikeda Daisuke ranked second with 82.65 points, while France’s Aurélien Giraud ended up third with 81.00 points.

Daisuke retains his overall FISE World Series lead due to his home win in Hiroshima last time out.

Action in Montpellier is due to continue tomorrow.

Competition is scheduled to conclude on Sunday (May 13).
