Egan Bernal time trialled to stage three success at the Tour de Romandie today as Primoz Roglic finished superbly to maintain his grip on the leaders yellow jersey.

The peloton were tackling a tough mountainous 9.9 kilometres time trial from Ollon to Villars-sur-Ollon as part of the International Cycling Union World Tour race.

Team Sky's Bernal paced his effort superbly to move up the standings in the second half and eventually cross for the fastest time of 25min 10sec.

He had been nine seconds down on Richie Porte at the 4.5km stage.

Porte ultimately finished third, 18 seconds off the Colombian's pace, as Slovenia and LottoNL-Jumbo's Roglic timed second fastest just four seconds behind the leader.

"My coach told me you need to do your own numbers," Bernal said.

"It doesn't matter about the times of any other riders.

"I just tried to do my numbers and I won, and I am so happy for that."
