Pakistan's Aleem Dar has become the first cricket umpire to officiate in 350 international matches.

He reached the milestone during Pakistan's third T20 international clash against the West Indies in Karachi on April 3.

The match ended in a home win for Pakistan by eight wickets.

Dar has won the International Cricket Council's (ICC) umpire of the year award on three occasions - in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

"I'm thankful to Pakistan Cricket Board, ICC and this country because whatever I am today is because of Pakistan," he said in a video message.

"I gained respect due to Pakistan."

Dar first umpired internationally at a One Day International (ODI) between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in 2000.

He has since taken charge of 117 Test matches, 190 ODIs and 43 T20 internationals.

In 2007, he was one of five umpires suspended by the ICC from the Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa.

It followed errors which led to overs being bowled in darkness at that year's Cricket World Cup Final.
