South Korea’s Sung Hyun Park and Sweden’s Pernilla Lindberg share the ANA Inspiration lead after two days of competition at the Mission Hills Country Club in California.

Park proved the star of the second round, as the South Korean player shot an eight-under-par round of 64 to storm up the standings in the first of this year's five major championships of professional women's golf.

The 2017 rookie of the year and joint player of the year joined Lindberg at the head of the leaderboard, with the overnight leader having managed a five-under-par round.

Both players achieved a 36-hole tournament record of 12-under-par.

"Today, the shots were awesome," Park said.

"I just felt really good about my driver.

"The shots fell in just as I wanted them to.

"Even though there were a couple things that I missed, but overall just had a great round."

The co-leaders enjoy a three-shot advantage over the United States’ Jessica Korda, who is third on nine-under-par.

English pair Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Charley Hull are a further two shots back, along with Japan’s Ayako Uehara and American Amy Olson.

Last year’s runner-up Lexi Thompson will need to perform well in the final two rounds if she is to chase down the front runners.

The American, who received four-stroke penalty that cost her victory in 2017, currently is eight shots behind the leaders on four-under-par.

The eventual 2017 winner Ryu So-yeon is even further adrift after half the tournament has been played.

The South Korea is one-over-par after two rounds of the major.

Play is due to continue tomorrow.
