Dmitry Maksimov, the sports director of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS), will host a masterclass of the sport with Intesa Bank customers in Moscow.

Maksimov, a former world and national champion, is an honoured Master of Sports in Russia.

He will teach both adults and children sambo skills at the masterclass in the Russian capital on January 27.

It will take place at the city's SAMBO-70 Sports and Educational Centre.

The session comes after FIAS and Intesa Bank agreed a partnership last month which has seen a special and "exclusive" co-brand debit card created.

The Intesa Sambo Card belongs to a category of Visa Platinum premium debit cards and allows users to withdraw cash at ATM machines around the world without any charge.

It also allows monthly interest to accrue on the card balance and involves discounts from both FIAS and bank partners.

This will help sambo enthusiasts "directly participate in our favourite martial art worldwide", FIAS said.

One per cent of the sum total of all payments for goods and services made by Intesa Sambo Card holders will be transferred by the bank to sambo development purposes on a monthly basis.

This money will then be used towards projects such as the arranging of major tournaments.
