The worldwide governing body has expanded the preferred supplier category from seven to 10 as part of their Quality Programme for Hockey Turf.

Act Global, AstroTurf, Edel, FieldTurf, Forbex, CC Grass, Greenfields, Tigerturf, Lano and Polytan have been announced as the 10 suppliers.

They will all be the main providers of hockey turf through to the end of next year.

The 10 companies "demonstrated their commitment to working with the FIH to provide high-quality hockey fields suitable for international, national, club and development hockey", according to the global governing body.

"We’re delighted to see the positive growth in the FIH Quality Programme," outgoing FIH chief executive Jason McCracken said.

"The fact that seven preferred suppliers renewed their licenses and two of the companies have upgraded from certified manufacturers suggests that they are seeing real commercial benefits from this initiative.

"FIH remains focused on improving the quality of hockey facilities around the world – that is key to the long-term success of our sport."

The FIH launched new standards for hockey turf last year, which included a move towards the use of surfaces which do not require water.

The Quality Programme for Hockey Turf also forms part of the organisation's 10-year Hockey Revolution strategic plan.

The scheme aims to ensure that good quality hockey fields are available at all levels of the sport, focusing on ensuring sustainability, affordability and accessibility of pitches worldwide.
