Both Demchenko, who is currently the head coach of the Russian national luge team, and Ivanova were part of their country's silver medal-winning mixed relay team at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

According to Demchenko, suspicion surrounding him has been aroused by the inclusion of his name on the "Duchess List" of athletes.

The list was drawn up by former Moscow Laboratory director Grigory Rodchenkov, the main source for information in the World Anti-Doping Agency commissioned McLaren Report. 

It has become the basis for stripping Russian athletes of their Sochi 2014 medals.

Prior to Sochi 2014, Rodchenkov created a cocktail containing banned steroids and had test results switched to hide failures.

The IOC Disciplinary Commission, tasked with investigating Russian doping, is chaired by Denis Oswald.

"Indeed, Tatiana and I are summoned on Wednesday to hearings on the Commission of Oswald," Demchenko, who also won men's singles silver at Sochi 2014, was reported as saying by TASS.

"Will we go there?

"Yes, if they call, why not go there?

"We do not want to say a lot about this topic.

"It's all up to us, we are not the first, and I understand that we are not the last.

"Rodchenkov's list is big - it will not be over soon."

Russian Luge Federation President Natalia Gart has said the national governing body will do everything in its power to protect Demchenko and Ivanovna.

"I do not know what caused it, because all Albert and Tatiana's B-samples were clean," she told R-sport.

"Nothing illegal was found in them.

"There were no prerequisites for this.

"It is hard for me to explain why this happens, because luge has always been clean from doping.

"I am absolutely sure of the cleanliness of our athletes."

According to TASS, Demchenko and Ivanov will also be represented by specially-hired lawyers.

A total of 31 Russian athletes have already been retrospectively disqualified from Sochi 2014 for their involvement in the doping scandal.

The athletes are all accused of being part of a "systemic manipulation" of the doping programme in the Russian city in which samples were illegally tampered with to mask doping.

They have been sanctioned following a combination of scientific evidence and testimony provided by whistleblower Rodchenkov.

All deny any wrongdoing.

Earlier this month, the IOC ruled that only Russian athletes not implicated in the scandal can participate as part of a neutral team, entitled "Olympic Athletes from Russia", at the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics. 

Pyeongchang 2018 is due to take place from February 9 to 25.
