The reigning Olympic bronze medallist careered into a tree in Whistler in March and required multiple surgeries to repair injuries including a fractured jaw, shattered left arm and ruptured spleen.

He underwent eight months of rehabilitation over the summer but is targeting a podium finish on his World Cup return.

The competition will take place at the Workers' Stadium in the Chaoyang district of the Chinese capital.

McMorris will face opposition from a strong field including defending champion Marcus Kleveland and his fellow Norwegian, the reigning big air world champion Staale Sandbech.

A strong Canadian team will also include Sebastien Toutant while Finland's Roope Tonteri and Belgium's Seppe Smits will be other leading challengers.

Reigning world champion Anna Gasser of Austria will start as favourite in the corresponding women's event.

Slovakia's Klaudia Medlova, The Netherlands' Cheryl Maas and Finland's Enni Rukajarvi will be  among other strong contenders.

Qualification action will take place tomorrow in both the male and female events before finals on Saturday (November 25).
