The official emblem and slogan for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup have been revealed.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino, French Football Federation President Noel Le Graet and French Sports Minister Laura Flessel attended the unveiling, which took place at the Musee de l'Homme in the centre of Paris.

The emblem features the competition trophy wrapped in marinière stripes.

At the top of the trophy is a football surrounded by eight decorative shards of light to symbolise the eighth edition of the tournament.

The official slogan, "Dare to Shine", is said to "reflect the changing nature of football and the evolution of the women’s competition".

“I think it will the best Women’s World Cup in the history of FIFA," Infantino said.

"I think it will be magnificent.

"France is a great football nation for both men and women.”

The tournament will begin on June 7 at Paris’ Parc des Princes and conclude with the final on July 7 at Stade de Lyon.

The other host cities will be Valenciennes, Reims, Le Havre, Rennes, Grenoble, Montpellier and Nice.

It will be the first time France has held a senior women's football tournament, and the competition follows on the trail of last year's UEFA European Championships, which the country successfully staged.

Previously, the country hosted the 2008 UEFA European Women's Under-19 and the 2000 Women's Under-18 Championships.

“In less than two years’ time, France will, for the first time in its history, host the FIFA Women’s World Cup," added Le Graet.

"We are proud and honoured to be doing so, as it reflects our firm commitment to nurture women’s football and its development, a goal that the French Football Association has been pursuing through the national plan for the promotion of women’s football, which it launched six years ago."
