Canada's double Olympic bobsleigh champion Heather Moyse has announced that she will be returning to the sliding sport.

The 39-year-old won gold medals as brakewoman to Kaillie Humphries at both the Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014 Winter Games, and now wants to help the next generation of talent.

This means she will not be seeking a reunion with Humphreys in the build-up to the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics in February.

Moyse, who has not been in bobsleigh action since 2014, revealed she had received an e-mail from a development pilot asking her to consider a return.

"It changed the whole way I looked at the opportunity of coming back," she said in a YouTube video.

"That email made me realise how much I have to offer the up-and-coming athletes, the athletes who have never experienced an Olympic Games before.

"It's not about me winning another Olympic medal, but it is exciting, the thought of potentially helping somebody else win their first."

Moyse has also represented Canada at rugby union and has been inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame.

She has won two bobsleigh bronze medals at the World Championships and also competed for her country in track cycling.

In addition, Moyse has excelled as a footballer and sprinter.
