Slovakia’s Peter Sagan will be among the starters tomorrow at the 2017 Grand Prix Cycliste de Quebec, as he seeks to win the one-day race for the second consecutive year.

The Bora-Hansgrohe rider won the race last year, prior to defending his world road race title in Doha.

This year’s World Championships are set to take place in Bergen in Norway later this month.

Sagan will face a strong challenge during the eighth edition of the Grand Prix Cycliste de Quebec.

Belgium’s Greg Van Avermaet is included on the start-list, as he seeks to better his runner-up finish last year on the city centre race.

Colombia’s Rigoberto Uran and Australia’s Simon Gerrans are also due to compete in the 201.6 kilometre race featuring 16 laps of a circuit.

Gerrans is a two-time winner of the race, having triumphed in both 2012 and 2014, while Uran secured victory in 2015.

Australia’s Michael Matthews and The Netherlands’ Tom Dumoulin are also considered as contenders to win.

The one-day race of the first of two Canadian International Cycling Union WorldTour events this week.

It will be followed by the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal, due to take place on Sunday (September 10).
