Reigning Olympic champions Brazil will face France for the International Volleyball Federation World League title after they won their respective semi-finals today.

Both secured 3-1 victories at the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil, as this year’s competition draws to a close.

The hosts, who were beaten by Serbia in last year’s final, took on the United States in their semi-final and took the first set 25-20.

However, the Rio 2016 bronze medals fought back to win the second 25-23, only to see Brazil regain control and claim the next couple of sets 25-20, 25-19 and earn their berth in the title match.

Wallace De Souza was the home team’s top scorer with 18 points to his name.

It is their 14th appearance in the final in 17 years, although their last four have ended in defeat for Brazil.

In the other semi-final, France claimed the first set 25-19 before Canada levelled proceedings winning the second 25-22.

But the French won the third and fourth sets 25-19, 25-21 to secure their place in the final.

Earvin Ngapeth was in superb form for France as he bagged 24 points in the victory.

If Brazil win, it will be their 10th title, stretching out their record as the holder of the most crowns.

The French have just one title to their name, which came the last time the final was in Brazil in 2015.

The final will be played tomorrow, along with the third-place playoff between the US and Canada.
