Another day brought another world record for an Algerian thrower at the 2017 World Para Athletics Dubai Grand Prix at the city's Club for the Disabled today.

It came from Mounia Gasmi in the women's F32/33 discus after a third round mark of 11.37 metres.

Aishah Salem Bani Khaled of United Arab Emirates managed a best of 10.72m for silver.

Bronze was claimed by Hanna Wichmann of Germany with 9.12m.

It marked the fourth world record of the meeting from an Algerian thrower after Nadia Medjmedj in the F56 discus, Safia Delai in the F57 javelin and Asmahan Boudjader in the F33 javelin.

A second world record was claimed today by Aigars Apinis of Latvia in the wheelchair discus F51/52 category.

His mark of 21.91m produced a crushing victory over Slovakia's Marian Kureja, with 10.03m, and Saudi Arabia's Radhi Alharthi, with 9.48m.

Switzerland's Marcel Hug produced one of the performances of the day on the track to overcome a strong Japanese challenge in the T54 5,000m.

He sprinted home in 11min 54sec to narrowly beat Japan's Masayuki Huguchi by just eight hundredths of a second.

Tomoki Suzuki of Japan crossed third in 11:56.02.

Jonathan Broom-Edwards was among the days other winners by claiming a British high jump success,

He leapt 2.05m to easily beat Indian duo Sharad Kumar, 1.66m, and Nagarajegowd Hosanagara, with 1.63m.
