England collected their second win of the European Mixed Team Badminton Championships today as they narrowly beat Sweden 3-2 in Lubin in Poland.

England, the runners-up two years ago, got their campaign off to the best possible start yesterday as they dispatched Ireland at the Regionalne Centrum Sportow.

The English team were emphatic and clinched a 5-0 victory, not dropping a single set in the entirety of the match.

They aimed to continue that form today but found themselves behind early on when Toby Penty lost his men's singles match to Henri Hurskainen 15-21, 22-20, 13-21.

Fontaine Mica Chapman levelled the contest when she beat Sweden's Emma Karlsson 21-12, 21-10 in the women's singles contest.

Victory in the men's doubles then put England ahead for the first time in the match before the Swedes levelled the tie up at 2-2 following the women's doubles.

Husband and wife team Gabrielle and Chris Adcock then secured the victory for England with a 21-19, 21-18 win over Nico Ruponen and Amanda Hogstrom.

Defending champions Denmark continued their sublime start to the tournament today.

After thrashing Bulgaria 4-1 yesterday, the reigning champions inflicted a 5-0 defeat onto France this afternoon.

Meanwhile, it was once again a frustrating day for Spain who were eliminated following a 4-1 loss to Russia.

The Russians then followed that up with an emphatic 5-0 win over hosts Poland this evening.

There was also a mixed day for The Netherlands as they collected one win and one defeat from their two matches today.

Firstly, they posted a 4-1 win over Switzerland in this morning's session before falling to a 4-1 defeat to Germany this evening.
