A comeback was pulled off by the China Dragons in today’s World Series of Boxing (WSB) matches as they defeated Uzbek Tigers 3-2 in Sanya.

The visitors had taken a 2-0 lead after Ibragimov Mironshokh and Abdulkhay Sharakhmatov won their light-fly and bantamweight bouts respectively against Xin Huang and Long Wang in unanimous points decisions.

However, circumstances in Group C turned against the Uzbekistan boxers after Elnur Abduraimov was unable to contest his light-welterweight clash with Rio 2016 Olympic Games champion Qianxun Hu.

Then the middleweight fight had to be stopped in the fourth round when Ulugbek Khakberdiev picked up an injury.

This set-up a winner-takes-all heavyweight bout between Jin Guo and Boburbek Yuldashev and much to the home crowd’s delight, the Chinese boxer won in a split decision.

Bator Sagaluev won the light-flyweight bout against Temirtas Zhussupov to give the Russians a 1-0 lead, but this was cancelled out by Ilyas Suleimenov’s victory over Artem Khotenov in the bantamweight.

The Patriots retook the lead when Radmir Abdurakhmanov took the light-welterweight glory against Dilmurat Mizhitov, but again the advantage was cancelled out in the next fight when Abilkhan Amankul defeated Radzhab Radzhabov in the middleweight category.

Then Anton Pinchuk put in a solid performance in the heavyweight fight to secure the overall victory for Astana with a unanimous points decision over Ilia Kvasnikov.
