The draw for the 2017 edition of the Netball World Youth Cup has been made in Gaborone.

Botswana's capital will host the tournament next year, where 20 teams will battle it out in the sport's premier under-21 competition.

New Zealand, the defending champions after triumphing in Scottish city Glasgow in 2013, will play in Pool A alongside Sri Lanka, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Samoa.

Pool B will feature Australia, the four-time winners, who will collide with South Africa, Barbados, Zimbabwe and Singapore.

In Pool C hosts Botswana will meet Jamaica, Cook Islands, Malaysia and Uganda, while Pool D consists of England, Fiji, Trinidad and Tobago, Wales and Grenada.

International Netball Federation (INF) President Molly Rhone, who unveiled a new trophy for the tournament at the draw, said: "One of the key strategies for the International Netball Federation over the next four years is to ensure our audiences, fans, teams and broadcasters enjoy thrilling world class events.

"I have no doubt that Botswana will make this a truly spectacular event.

"I am also certain this event will enthuse and inspire more young people to play our great sport and leave a lasting legacy, which will grow and develop netball and create an even further positive impact on many young people and their communities."

Botswana Netball Association (BONA) President Tebogo Lebotse Sebego carried out the draw, which followed the conclusion of regional qualifiers.

"For BONA, the inspiration to host the Netball World Youth Cup came from the Cook Islands in 2009 when they hosted the World Youth Championships.

"When we put in the bid, we knew that we were punching above our weight.

"But as a small nation with great ambitions, punching above our weight is our inspiration.

"It is really pleasing to be at this point of conducting a draw and it’s amazing that Botswana is drawn into the same pool as Cook Islands."

Competition will take place in Gaborone between July 8 and 16.
