Canada moved a step closer to finishing top of Group D at the World Curling Federation (WCF) World Mixed Curling Championships after recording their fourth straight win at the Kazan Sports Palace today.

After three victories, the Canadian team were clear favourites heading into their latest tie against tournament newcomers Andorra.

They were able to live up to expectations by securing a 7-2 triumph, which maintained their position at the top of the standings.

"It was a pretty solid game," said Michael Lizmore, Canada’s skip.

"They made a lot of shots early on and it felt like there were a couple of moments there that we were up against it, but overall we were pretty happy with how we played.

"Honestly I think it’s about trying to get a bit better every game and just fine tuning regardless of outcome, just taking care of the small details."

Latvia kept up their pursuit of Canada as a 9-4 win over France kept them in second place, while South Korea fell to their first loss after being beaten 10-0 by Austria.

Group A saw two unbeaten nations pitted against each other as Scotland took on Japan in a top of the table clash.

A 7-4 win for Scotland saw them maintain their record, while Japan dropped to third in the standings after Italy’s 7-4 win over New Zealand.
