The 30-year-old Austrian christened the facility in his homeland as the country's Nordic Combined squad held a jumping camp ahead of the new Winter season.

"As I live close by, I will do my training here quite often," said Klapfer, who was a member of Austria's bronze medal winning 4x5km team at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

"I like the hill very much, the flight curve is modern. 

"It is also a perfect training facility for the Nordic Education Centre where I did my apprenticeship back in the days. 

"As to my own jumping shape, I am happy at the moment.

"Things are moving in the right direction."

Wilhelm Denifl, another member of the Austrian squad, added: "It was very fun to jump here in Eisenerz. 

"The hill complex is working very well and it’s great to have another really modern training centre in Austria. 

"My own preparation is going better than expected. 

"We have redesigned my training programme which works very well. 

"I like it to have one focus during a training camp, either ski jumping or endurance. 

"It changes the preparation phase up a little more and the time until autumn doesn’t get too long.“

 Both Klapfer and Denifl, a relay world champion, claimed third-place finishes at International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup events last season.

The best performing Austrian, however, was triple Olympic medallist Bernhard Gruber.

He won a World Cup race in Val di Fiemme, Italy, and was seventh overall in the standings.
