Fresh elections for leading administrative postions within Taekwondo New Zealand (TNZ) have been delayed until September after an Annual General Meeting (AGM) failed to fulfil constitutional requirements.

Candidates proved unable to get necessary support at the AGM as political infighting continues to overshadow preparations for next month's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

"Due to the voting process at the 2016 TNZ Annual General Meeting not meeting the requirements of the TNZ constitution, the TNZ Board has resolved to hold a re-election on 10th September 2016," a short statement posted on the TNZ website explained.

"Further details will be advised to members in due course."

In the meantime, Tae Kyung Kim will continue to serve as Interim President.

Han Hyoun Lee will serve as interim senior vice-president and Peter Shaw as vice-president.

Matt Ransom will serve as interim secretary general and Abraham Janssen will be treasurer.

Andrea Kilday is set to be the only New Zealander competing in taekwondo at Rio 2016.

She secured a place in the under 49 kilograms division after winning the gold medal at the Oceania Championships.

Concerns remain, however, over what TNZ is doing to represent athletes, with complaints that the governing body is not fulfiling its responsibilities to produce a realistic athlete pathway to make it to Olympic level.
