The Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) have erected a billboard to thank sponsors who are supporting the country’s largest ever Olympic delegation.

Fiji qualified for the men's football tournament after an ineligible player row at the 2015 Pacific Games saw New Zealand lost their spot, which they had gained by winning the qualifying event.

The country’s rugby sevens team are also due to head to Rio 2016, fresh from having won the World Rugby Sevens Series for the second consecutive year.

Rugby sevens, due to make its debut at the Games, is considered their best hope of claiming a first Olympic medal.

With a 13-man squad required for rugby sevens, as well as 16 members of the football team, the team sports have ensured Fiji will send their biggest-ever team to an Olympic Games.

Fiji have also qualified athletes in archery, judo, shooting, table tennis and weightlifting competitions.

To mark the support of several sponsors, the FASANOC opted to place a billboard on their Olympic House.

Vodafone Fiji were named as the main sponsor of Fijian team for the Games back in April, with the mobile phone provider having become a gold partner.

Sportswear provider BLK are the second gold sponsor.

FASANOC have also sealed agreements with Fiji Water, JR White, Dahia, Teivovo, Star Printery, The Fiji Times and The Bank of South Pacific Group (BSP) in recent months, with the companies becoming silver partners.

BSP was announced as a partner last month, with the bank providing a donation of $50,000 (£35,000/€44,000).
