Netball Australia has officially begun the process to find a new President to replace Noeleen Dix, who announced last month she was stepping down after 10 years in the role.

Candidates interested in the role have until May 6 to put themselves forward.

They must be members of Netball Australia.

Once nominations have been received, an election will take place by postal ballot in accordance with the rules of Netball Australia.

Netball Australia claims it has "a commitment to provide contemporary, respected corporate governance and leadership to the membership".

The ideal candidate will have "experience in the areas of business, legal affairs, Government relations and finance, in addition to netball knowledge and skills, will be highly regarded", Netball Australia said in the job specification posted on its website.

Under the leadership of Dix, a former Australian international, she oversaw the establishment of the ANZ Championship, the move of the governing body's headquarters from Sydney to Melbourne, led a governance review and was part of the team that won the country's bid to host the 2015 Netball World Cup in Sydney.

Australia have also established themselves as the world number one's team after winning three consecutive World Cups in 2007, 2011 and 2015 and a gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
