Defending champions Czech Republic moved into the final of the Fed Cup after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Switzerland.

The clash on the hard courts at Messe Luzern was decided by the final doubles rubber as Lucie Hradecka and Karolina Pliskova triumphed 6-2, 6-2 over Martina Hingis and Viktorija Golubic to leave the home fans disappointed.

Barbora Strycova hammered Switzerland's Timea Bacsinszky 6-2, 6-0 in the opening singles clash yesterday before Golubic responded for the hosts with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Pliskova.

That left the tie nicely poised, and it was the Czechs who edged back in front as Pliskova saw off Bacsinszky 6-4, 6-2.

The fourth match saw Golubic earn another point for her team with a 3-6, 7-6, 6-1 win over Strycova but it wasn't to be for her nation in the doubles.

Czech Republic will now meet France after they beat The Netherlands 3-2 in another match that went the distance.

It was the Dutch who took the lead at the Arena Loire in Trélazé with Kiki Bertens beating Caroline Garcia 6-4, 6-2 on the clay yesterday.

Kristina Mladenovic responded for France, seeing off Richel Hogenkamp 6-2, 6-4.

Bertens put The Netherlands back in front as she dispatched Mladenovic 7-5, 6-4 today but Garica returned to see off Arantxa Rus 6-3, 6-4.

That set the clash up nicely for a dramatic doubles decider, and Garcia and Mladenovic saw off Bertens and Hogenkamp 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.

The final will be play on November 12 and 13.
