Hosts United States beat rivals Canada 2-0 to win the North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Women's Olympic qualifying tournament for the fourth time in a row in Houston.

Both countries had already earned their places at Rio 2016 after winning their respective last four games, but the final was still a keenly contested affair which was a re-match of a semi-final clash at the London 2012 Olympics.

On that occasion at Old Trafford in Manchester, the US won a thrilling contest 4-3 after extra-time with Alex Morgan netting the most dramatic of late winners with 123 minutes on the clock.

Christine Sinclair's hat-trick for Canada was in vein as her country eventually had to settle for bronze, with the Americans going on to claim the gold medal by beating Japan 2-1 in the final.

Today's final was less incident filled as second half goals from Lindsey Horan and Tobin Heath settled matters at the BBVA Compass Stadium.

Horan headed home in the 53rd minute after a cross from Becky Sauerbrunn, who was celebrating her 100th appearance for the US.

As well as winning the Championship, American players also collected all of the individual awards with Hope Solo named as best goalkeeper after the Olympic and world champions didn't concede a goal throughout the entire tournament.

Striker Crystal Dunn collected the golden boot after scoring six goals, with five of those coming in the 10-0 group stage rout of Puerto Rico.

The golden ball for best player went to midfielder Morgan Brian, with the USA also collecting the Fair Play Award.
